  1. Can anyone give me some advice , if you have one at each side is ther any tips In changing them if you are on your own my freind lost her husband plus is in another country with borders shut she was hoping for stents but after scans etc it’s not possible all Ime wanting is tips on how to help her as she is struggling with them being on her Back

  2. Ooh my. I’ll never forget the pain I had with that. Patients should be under general anaesthetic for the initial insertion, changing the cath every 3 months is completely painless but the first procedure, we should be completely out. That vid brought back bad memories, you can hear the patient groan in pain in the background, I was wriggling off the table. 😖

  3. This is just WRONG. I would demand some type of sedation. I got ZERO. They told me it would require anesthesia to come in (DUH! That’s the point!). They started when I was wide awake and feeling EVERYTHING. I was screaming on the table and the nurse at my head said, “I’m just going to go ahead and do it, anyway”..and she hit me with two doses of of Fentanyl. Still, I was awake and feeling every movement they did. I would DEMAND some type of sedative. They are going in through your wound. I felt every suture being opened…every move they made inside. It was NOT pretty and I’m PISSED they had such disregard for the patient.

  5. Excellent and very didactic video. I’m a radiologist, not interventionist and appreciate all small details mentioned in this video that are just like in the textbook. Great to watch experienced professional. Thanks. Please post more videos like this one.

  6. Since I'm pretty young, my doctor was worried whether I should be put to sleep, or just numbed up, later, he decided to go ahead and put me to sleep, I haven't had the procedure yet, I'm going to have it tommorow at 7:00 AM, wish me luck! :3

  7. I just had this done a week ago, very painful. My bp wasn't high enough to receive all the sedation Med's I should have had. Now I'm home with no clear instructions on who to go to for wound care and the tegaderm has just peeled off over the incision site and dressing. I asked my doctor who seemed surprised that I received no supplies or clear care directions. I'm frustrated

  8. If local anaesthetic is injected slowly and accurately this procedure should not be very painful at all. The problem comes when the local is injected way too quickly which is very painful. If a stent is then inserted I would give my patients sedation as this can be very uncomfortable and the sedation really helps.

  9. I had this same procedure done and it depends on the surgeon whether you will be put to sleep. Some do, some dont. Fortunately the surgeon I had did. The pain comes about an hour later and lasts a few days. Couldve avoided this by drinking water. So since July 28th, 2014 water is my #1 choice lol.
